What we can learn about Child Parentification and People Pleasing from Bridgerton Season 2

Grab your tea and some snacks because GURLLLL, we need to talk about this new season of Bridgerton!

I really loved it and resonated with the two main characters — Anthony Bridgerton and Kate Sharma — so deeply. And of course, I found the lessons in the story so important that I decided to make an entire YouTube video about it because I think we can all learn from the gems in this show. Specifically, I love how the show demonstrates the harmful effects of child parentification and people pleasing.

I’m already laughing because when I talk about “mental health lessons” or “character journeys” in a TV show or movie, sometimes I get confused looks. After a few of these blank stares of confusion, I’ve since learned that not everyone psychoanalyzes TV and movies. It’s a weird thing I do, and I’m okay with that. Lol I did go to film school after all, and one of my best classes was breaking down the meaning behind movies, so there you go!

A note on spoilers — yes, there will be a few spoilers! Go watch the show!

A note on not having watched the show — you will still get a lot out of this blog post if you struggle with and are healing from child parentification and people pleasing.

Enjoy!
